San Francisco, CA -- (SBWire) -- 05/26/2015 --TheBestCompanys.com (TBC) recently released review for companies in the car sharing industry.

Millennials (those born between 1980 and 2000), make up the biggest generation in U.S. history. There are approximately 92 million of them in the United States today, making up nearly one-third of the population.

Millennials grew up in a time of rapid technological change. In fact, they are the first generation to grow up surrounded by technology. They constantly access information and devote time to creating the lifestyle that they want. A trend that many have noticed with millennials is that they like on-demand access, whether that's to music, movies, or cars.

In the new "sharing economy," TBC wants to be the first to provide unbiased reviews and accurate information about the car sharing industry.

Economist Jeremy Rifkin believes that "25 years from now, car sharing will be the norm and car ownership will be an anomaly."

One of the biggest companies in the sharing economy industry is Uber.

"By 2011, a year after launching, Uber had over $45 million in fundraising," TBC PR Director Jessica Jensen said. "Today the company has over 160,00 active drivers and is available in 176 cities. Companies that offer similar services have been popping up over the last five years; they all see the potential market in car sharing."

We ranked two types of car sharing services: the type that picks you up, and the type that lets you borrow a car. For each company, we factored in the price, availability, professionalism, scheduling, car options, and BBB rating. These rankings are coupled with expert reviews and reviews from real consumers.

"We wanted to give as much information as we could to consumers," said Jensen. "The more information riders have, the better decision they can make for themselves."

Currently, TBC has information on the following car sharing companies (listed in order from highest to lowest ranking):

- Uber
- Hertz 24/7
- Getaround
- Zipcar
- Lyft
- Enterprise CarShare
- UHaulCarShare
- Car2Go
- Flywheel
- Sidecar
