Couple Sue Tour Operator After Falling Ill on Holiday

London, England -- (SBWire) -- 07/06/2015 --A couple are suing their tour operator after falling ill during a luxury holiday in Cuba. The wife fell sick with a severe gastric illness that required repeated trips to the hospital, leaving them unable to enjoy their special treat. The couple believe the holiday provider is responsible, due to not maintaining the venue properly – with unsanitary conditions potentially aggravating the woman's complaint and in turn putting the couple's health and safety at risk. Sadly the wife is still suffering from the effects of the illness.

The news comes at the start of the holiday season, and could be considered shocking to some. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident and statistics published by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) show that it assisted 19,000 people in 2013, whilst they were on holiday.

The result of the couple's action is eagerly awaited by holiday-makers, travel agents and tour operators alike as it could lead to a substantial increase in claims. It is also expected that this will lead to holiday providers having to accept far more responsibility for the health and safety of travellers.

About The Accident Team
The Accident Team is a group of highly experienced accident and injury lawyers: leaders in their field. The team often helps those who have become ill or injured whilst abroad. Regularly commentating on industry news, a spokesperson for the group said: "It is essential that holiday agencies are held to account where they are liable for any harm to their customers, including damage to their person or property. Of course it is unjust that these sorts of incidents spoil people's holidays, as in many circumstances, they are preventable. Yet people affected should not have to suffer in silence and should be properly compensated. We would always advise holiday-makers to seek legal advice if they have suffered illness or injury whilst abroad, especially if they feel that someone else is responsible. They may be able to claim compensation."
