US Compliance Corp Shares OSHA Updated Hazard Communication Standard with GHS Labels

Excelsior, MN -- (SBWire) -- 07/07/2015 --Beginning last month chemical manufacturers, importers, and employers were mandated to ensure all chemicals were shipped out with GHS (Globally Harmonized System) approved labels and new Safety Data Sheets (SDS) that comply with the provisions in OSHA's updated Hazard Communication Standard. Some manufacturers may have already begun sending out products with compliant labels and SDSs.

According to US Compliance Corp, with newly formatted SDS and chemical labels beginning to arrive at worksites, it is recommended that employers take the following steps:

- Train employees - the deadline to ensure all workers are familiar with the updated label and SDS format was December 1, 2013.

- Get the new SDSs -take steps, including contacting manufacturers to ensure updated SDSs for all chemicals onsite immediately (to get and remain in compliance).

- Review the SDSs - when the new SDSs come in, closely examine them, and consider whether appropriate controls are in place for all hazards.

Privately held manufacturing firms must attain and sustain environmental, health, and safety compliance. Manufacturers rely heavily on employees to make the business productive and profitable. Lost workdays due to sickness or injury quickly diminish profits; employees want to know manufacturers care about their health and safety. U.S. Compliance Corp helps manufacturers avoid non-compliance lawsuits and fines by partnering and creating a customized program, practical to implement, easy to follow, and preventing workers' comp claims or costly citations.
