During the interview, Stackpole discussed the hip surgery that she underwent after an injury tore a muscle. She chose to have the surgery under local rather than general anesthesia due to her commitment to using the least invasive methods to protect her health. She also discussed being out of work for three months and how difficult it was to remain sedentary during that time. She missed the Tony Awards and other important events, but she knew that she must take care of her health first. Physical therapy helped, and she was able to recover completely from her injury.
