Binge Drinking Damages the Immune System According to a Report; the CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

Alcohol in the body causes a temporary, yet significant dip in the efficiency of the immune system. (1)

People who binge drink, experience a drop in the number of immune cells shortly after taking their first drink. The actual immune system response is similar to when a toxin enters the body. In a small study it was shown that alcohol burdens the immune system "several hours to days after exposure, when blood alcohol is no longer detectable." (1) During the study, a group of college students were given a series of alcohol shots, and then "blood was collected for analysis prior to alcohol ingestion, and 20 min, 2h, and 5h after alcohol ingestion." (1) The study showed showed that after two hours, the immune system is extensively occupied with the "invader," and returns to normal about five hours after the first drink.

Dr. Majid Afshar, the lead author of the study wrote that "There's been plenty of research, mainly in animals, that has looked at what happens after alcohol has actually left the system, like the day after drinking, and it's been shown that if there is infection or injury, the body will be less well able to defend against it." (2) The reason is that alcohol depleted the resources of the immune system. Interestingly, the researchers also wrote that "This could mean that if you already have an infection, binge drinking might make it worse. Or it might make you more susceptible to a new infection." (2) Dr. Afshar is an assistant professor in the departments of medicine and public health at Loyola University Health Systems in Maywood, Ill. This study showed that alcohol can burden the immune system to a degree that could risk the health of the drinker, if he or she experiences another attack on the system, such as with a virus. For example, if someone drinks and has sex with an infected individual, the chances of acquiring an infection could be higher.

Study co-author Elizabeth Kovacs said that "people tend to know that binging drinking - enough to reach or exceed a blood-alcohol content of .08, as defined by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism - changes their behavior. But there is less awareness of alcohol's harmful effects in other areas, such as the immune system." (3)

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that those drink alcoholic beverages, and who may be infected with HPV take Gene-Eden-VIR to help the immune system target the latent form of the virus.

When the efficiency of the immune system is reduced due to binge drinking, a latent virus can reactivate and cause disease. This is exactly what happens with the human papillomavirus (HPV). After an initial infection, it establishes a life-long latent infection, and can reactivate, causing genital warts and some types of cancer. The CBCD recommends that individuals infected with HPV take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin to help maintain the health of their immune system. The formula of these natural HPV remedies was found to safely and effectively reduce HPV symptoms in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, "individuals infected with the (HPV) … reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment…" (4) The study authors also wrote that, "we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms." Gene-Eden-VIR is a natural antiviral dietary supplement. Its formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR is the only natural antiviral product on the market with published clinical studies that support its claims.

When the immune system is weakened, and can no longer protect against viruses, the number of latent viruses will increase, and some might even reactivate.

What is the problem with a high number of latent viruses?

Dr. Hanan Polansky from the CBCD has shown how the DNA of latent viruses can cause major chronic diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and depression. Please note that these are precisely the diseases mentioned in the report on stress, and the chronic diseases that may develop when someone experiences long-term stress levels.

According to Dr. Hanan Polansky's theory of Microcompetition, fragments of DNA, called N-boxes, can be dangerous. When foreign N-boxes enter the body (naturally, or artificially, like through an injection of some treatment), they end up in the nucleus, where they attract scarce genetic resources. It is interesting that many common latent viruses, such as the herpes family of viruses, have strong N-boxes in their DNA. (See Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease, from 2003) (5)

"Since binge drinking exposes people to viruses, we recommend that individuals who go out for drinks on a regular basis, consider taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin to help their immune systems target latent viruses." - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Are there treatments available against the HPV?

"There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus. The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission." (4) In contrast, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR were designed to target the latent HPV.
