Lamar Hunt Jr. spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new St. Michael The Archangel High School and contributed $3 million dollars for the construction.

Kansas City, MO -- (SBWire) -- 09/18/2015 --Lamar Hunt Jr. gives back to the Catholic community and supports the growth of educational facilities by contributing to the construction of new school's like St. Michael The Archangel High School. The high school will be built to aid in the education of the growing population in the eastern Jackson County area of Kansas City.

Rita and Lamar Hunt Jr. donated $3 million dollars to the new Kansas City area high school, assisting the community in meeting the $30 million dollar budget for the new educational facility. The Forward in Faith campaign will provide $15 million towards construction and development costs.

At the groundbreaking ceremony for the new high school Lamar Hunt Jr. spoke about his need to pass along the blessing that he has received. The school broke ground with a goal to complete construction in January of 2016.

The new school opening will fill the need for Catholic high school education as it is timed with the closing of Archbishop O'Hara High School. The closing of nearby St. Mary's High School will also be tended to with the new availability of education at St. Michael The Archangel High School.

Upon construction completion, Dr. John Purk will serve as President of the new high school and John O'Connor will become the first principal.
