Lamar Hunt Jr.'s ECHL Team Win First Game of Season

The Missouri Mavericks, owned by Lamar Hunt Jr., won their first game of the season this week in Anchorage, AK against the Alaska Aces.

Kansas City, MO -- (SBWire) -- 10/14/2015 --Lamar Hunt Jr.'s ECHL team the Missouri Mavericks faced the Alaska Aces in their first game of the 2015-16 season and won 5-2. The first game of the season was played in the Anchorage, AK home of the Alaska Aces, and will be followed with another game against the Aces on October 13.

The first of two exhibition games was won by the Mavericks with two goals from team captain Josh Holstrom and two goals from Andre Courtney. The Mavericks used two goalies during their first game, keeping Parker Milner in for 40 minutes and using Taran Kozun for 20 minutes. Missouri had 30 shots on goal overall with the Aces shooting 26.

The starting line up for the Mavericks featured Patch Alber, Tyler Bames, Jesse Root, Kellen Jones, Wes Cunningham and Parker Milner. The winning team scored two goals in the third period of the game and allowed no goals to be scored by Alaska.

The Missouri Mavericks will return home after their 12 day road trip to play their first home game of the season at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena on October 24th. The first home game of the 2015-16 Mavericks season will be played against the team's local rivals the Wichita Thunder.
