Lamar Hunt Jr.'s Missouri Mavericks Win in Shutout

Lamar Hunt Jr.'s ECHL team won 3-0 in shutout against local rival team the Wichita Thunder on October 23.

Kansas City, MO -- (SBWire) -- 10/29/2015 --The Missouri Mavericks, owned by Lamar Hunt Jr., won the October 23 game 3-0 against local rival the Wichita Thunder. The game was held in Wichita, KS at the Intrust Bank Arena and began the regular rivalry between the Mavericks and the Thunder.

The first two periods of the matchup went without any goals scored by the Mavericks or the Thunder. After the forty minute goal drought Tyler Barnes of the Mavericks scored quickly within the first minute of the third period. Shortly after the first Mavericks goal, another two goals were scored to bring the Mavericks up to three goals which won them the game.

Mavericks Goalie Josh Robinson kept his team in the lead throughout the game, saving each of the 27 goal attempts from the Thunder despite many visits to the penalty box.

The Mavericks will continue to play the Thunder in the season long Independence Cup Series, six more games will be played at the Silverstein Eye Centers Area.
