Worcester Wreath Reports on the 2016 Wreaths Across America Program

The program decorated the graves of 901,000 service members in 2015 and hopes to do more in the future, announces WorcesterWreath.com

Harrington, ME -- (SBWire) -- 01/06/2016 --The Worcester Wreath Company and Wreaths Across America announces, on December 12, 2015, 901.000 Christmas wreaths were placed on graves across American to remember those who lived and served. The wreaths help to keep their memory alive and provide individuals with a moment to pause and remember them and their service. This is a time when individuals come together without denominational divide or political agenda to lift up the men and women who have protected America's freedom. The Christmas Wreaths add beauty to the cemeteries they grace and provide a reminder to all that Americans have a great deal to be thankful for during the holiday season.

"The Wreaths Across America event is designed to accomplish the organization's mission which is Remember, Honor, Teach. The wreaths are now placed in Arlington National Cemetery along with veterans' cemeteries in all 50 states and beyond. In addition, the organization plans a week of events, including ceremonies at State Houses and a Veteran's Parade that takes a week and goes from Maine to Virginia. This parade allows the organization to spread the message about remembering heroes that have given their lives while serving this country, honoring those who continue to serve and teaching children about sacrifices made by these individuals,"Mike Worcester, spokesperson for Worcester Wreath Company, announces.

Thousands of volunteers contribute to this effort, organizing local ceremonies, raising funds to purchase the wreaths and participating in the various events. Individual wreath sponsors, corporate donors and volunteer professional truck drivers help to offset the costs associated with the program, and all make the honoring of the armed forces possible in this way. Worcester Wreath Company is proud of how far the program has come over the years and hopes to expand it more as time goes by.

"Corporate donors for 2015 include Chevrolet, Wal-Mart, Worcester Wreath, Jersey Mike's Sub, Baylor Trucking, Network Appliance, Aerospace Industries Association and Whitten's a-Way-Brewer. The trucking companies helping transport the wreaths are too numerous to list, yet we appreciate every one of them and all they do to support the program. It's companies such as this that make our work possible," Worcester continues.

In addition to the wreaths, the program dedicates a perpetually lit Christmas tree to honor all service members, past, present and future, who are away from loved ones during the holidays. The theme of the tree is 'The Christmas they never had' and was inspired by Sir Stanley Wojtusik. Sir Wojtusik was a World War II prisoner of war who survived the Battle of the Bulge. The holidays are a time for families to be together, yet those in the armed forces often spend this time away. The tree is designed to recognize their sacrifice.

"Visit the Wreaths Across America Facebook page to see pictures of cemeteries across the country decorated with the wreaths, along with the perpetually lit Christmas tree. In addition, mark December 17, 2016 on the calendar, as that is the date for the next wreath laying event. Every soldier should be honored for their sacrifice, and this program is our way of doing so. We appreciate all who participate in the event, from the companies transporting the wreaths to the individuals who place the wreaths. We couldn't do it without this help," Worcester states.
