Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia -- (SBWire) -- 01/18/2016 --Homegrown local smartphone brands are few and far in between and they are not as well-known as international brands. You may have heard or not heard of EXMobile, but one thing is for certain – you will be hearing a lot more from them this year.

Established in 2009, EXMobile has in fact long been a part of the Malaysian mobile phone scene with a total of 110 marketed products so far and has over 800 dealers as well as 10 service centers nationwide. As of last year, EXMobile sold more than 100,000 units in Malaysia with revenue of MYR50 million (USD12 million) in excess. They admitted that they have been rather "quiet" all these years (hence their relatively unknown existence) but all are set to change in 2016 as they seek to "re-enter" the smartphone market with new strategies and a renew verve.

EXMobile's target is clear and that is to cater to budget-conscious customers. In order build more brand awareness, they will be putting more emphasis into media collaboration, strategic alliance, online advertising as well as creating a larger social media presence, something which they previously lacked. For a start, they have appointed former World No. 1 Badminton Player and Malaysia Coach, Rashid Sidek as the main brand ambassador, and also roped in popular Sabahan musician/Radio DJ/internet celebrity TianLong as the VoLte Series ambassador. Last year alone, EXMobile has received multiple region discussion on further expansion and regional local partnership.

But of course, the stars of the show are as much about new products as new brand faces. The VoLte 2 is EXMobile's new baby and it brings style on a budget. Beneath a 5-inch 720p 2.5D curve display and its sleek glass back with premium metal frame finish are midrange specs such as 2GB RAM, quad-core processor, Mediatek 6735A and 16GB storage space that supports micro SD expansion up to 64GB.

The 4G LTE-enabled and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-running smartphone also sports a 13MP rear camera with F/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash which is complimented with a 5MP front-facing shooter. Rounding up the hardware is dual SIM (dual standby) capability and 2,200mAh battery.

Priced affordably at MYR549 (USD129), the VoLte 2 is available for purchase at authorized stores and dealers nationwide and also online at Lazada Malaysia.

One more thing…

EXMobile also sprang a surprise by revealing the Ex Watch, a stylish-looking rounded-face smart watch with stainless steel watchcase. Featuring a 1.22-inch HD IPS display (240 x 240 pixel) with Nanometer tempered glass, the Ex Watch runs on MT2502A–108MHz SoC with 128MB of RAM and 32MB storage space which can be expanded up to a maximum of 8GB via its micro SD slot.

Among its features are pedometer, sleep monitor, anti-lost, sedentary reminder, heart rate monitor, IP65 waterproof, remote camera, synchronous SMS, MMS, Time Sync and many more.

The premium factor continues in the choice of watchband in either stainless steel or classy leather strap (weighing 128g and 62.8g respectively). The leather strap variant will be made available in Q1 2016 with a mouth-watering price of MYR399 (USD92.90) in Silver, Black, Rose Gold, Royal Blue and Gold.
