Collierville, TN -- (SBWire) -- 02/23/2016 --In architecture, finding an essential building element that maintains a perfect blend of form and function is no easy feat. Too often great looking pieces are not practical, and vice versa. Fortunately, one company seeks to reach that pivotal point, where aesthetically pleasing meets practical purpose. Tuscan Iron Entries, based in Tennessee, is proud to have a patent pending for their latest door: an Energy Efficient Ornamental Iron Door. As of January, their patent is pending and will undergo energy testing stages. Though the entire process can take upwards of one year, the team at Tuscan Iron Entries is confident their prototype will fair very well.

After two years of research and development, Tuscan Iron Entries applied for a patent for their "Energy Efficient Ornamental Iron Door." The product was developed in order to fill a niche once unoccupied by ornamental iron doors. By their very nature, ornamental iron doors are not energy efficient – as a result of their tubular steel construction. Heat and cold can easily flow from interior to exterior surfaces and vice versa. This heat transfer causes homes to lose energy, because the heat finds an easy path in and out of the house.

So what makes these doors better? Tuscan Iron Entries developed a unique process of building ornamental iron doors which eliminates the tubular steel, therefore cutting down on heat transfer that decreases the u-value. Once brought to market, these doors will be suitable for use in all climates. "We are replacing the tubular steel with formed steel so that the front of the door and the back have minimal contact with each other," explained company owner Aneel Siddiqui. "Essentially, typical ornamental iron doors are 100% connected, allowing for a large vessel for energy transfer. Our patent pending doors are (remove "just") 95-97% thermally broken, meaning only 3-5% of the two sides of the door are touching – it's a big step in the right direction."
