Norristown, PA -- (SBWire) -- 03/04/2016 --Conserving wildlife is an ongoing mission for the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, PA, but it can prove to be challenging when snowy conditions arrive. Last year, the wildlife refuge endured tough obstacles throughout the winter season, which included the back-breaking labor of spreading tons of salt on pathways, combatting major power outages, removing frozen excrement, and thawing obstinate cage locks covered in ice. Although the financial aid from generous supporters helped them to overcome icy weather complications, the zoo aims to take on the winter of 2016 stronger than ever before. To build financial strength for facing the blistery plight once again, the park is hosting an ongoing Winter Care Appeal event.

To remain open all year as one of the fun things to do in Bucks County, PA, the Elmwood Park Zoo has made preparations and plans to embrace chilly temperatures. Fans of the walk-through safari can help the park achieve its goal by participating in the Winter Care Appeal. The donation event proposes a unique and entertaining endorsement that involves a medieval-themed in-house competition. The park is separated into four houses of kings and queens – House Wolf, House Iguana, House Elk, and House Cougar – that are battling each other amongst the wintery realm. The house that raises the most money will win their seat on the throne.

Donors are asked to join in the fight by making a contribution to the house that best represents their inner warrior, which will go towards helping the zoo's mission and determining which house will reign in the "Metal Chair". Updates about the Winter Care Appeal are provided regularly on the zoo's website and social media.
