According to lawsuit documents, plaintiffs alleged a number of complications resulting from implantation, including the need for revision surgeries to remove, infections, abdominal pain, organ damage, sexual dysfunction and erosion, just to name a few. As many as 100,000 suits are pending across 12 manufacturers over complaints of mesh injury claims by according to a BloombergBusiness report.

"This large settlement won't be the last," stated Thom Pryor legal analyst with Lawsuit Legal. "Transvaginal mesh lawsuits will be ongoing for the near future, and other manufacturers of similar products will likely be on the hook for millions more to resolve similar claims."

Mesh products were classified as a high risk device for use in pelvic organ prolapse by the FDA in January 2016. Effectively updating their advisory of the product from class II to a class III risk device. Women whose treatment included a mesh device and who suffered complications are encouraged to come forward and share their experiences with personal injury attorneys to learn about possible recovery options.

"We expect more women to come forward who have experienced adverse complications resulting from transvaginal mesh throughout 2016," added Mr. Pryor, who added, "It sounds like more trial losses, more large settlements, and more patient claims should be expected this year."

In severe cases, women who have experienced erosion may require multiple surgical treatments in an attempt to ex-plant the failed device. The top mass tort lawyers have been watching what J&J would do with their pending mesh lawsuits, according to Lawsuit Legal.
