Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWire) -- 06/03/2016 --It has been 6 days since the sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse was released on May 27, 2016 in North America. At the same time, movie fans can also enjoy Alice Through the Looking Glass, the successor to Alice in wonderland, on the movie theater. According to Box Office Mojo, the 6-day total box office of X-Men was two times as much as that of Alice Through the Looking Glass. X-Men: Apocalypse is a 2016 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name, and is the ninth installment in the X-Men film series. Although enjoying a relatively positive weekend compared to Alice Through the Looking Glass, Apocalypse did not received much acclaim as its predecessors did on the opening weekend. X-Men: Apocalypse paled in comparison to its predecessors in the opening weekend. According to Rottentomatoes, the Friday-to-Sunday box office was $65.3M, and looking at the nine-film mutant franchise that Fox has had over the past 16 years, Apocalypse had the sixth best opening weekend; in terms of actual tickets sold, it ranks seventh out of nine.

As for the second film of Alice series, Alice Through the Looking Glass suffered a sluggish weekend. Not only has it been beaten by the eye-catching X-Men in 6-day total box office, but it also could not efficiently attract public's attention as its predecessor Alice in Wonderland could, which can be observed in box office as well. According to showdowns section in Box Office Mojo, Alice in Wonderland got $139,858,359, but Alice Through the Looking Glass only reached $38,227,685 in the first 6 days' box office.
