Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWire) -- 06/14/2016 --Mummers Mardi Gras, produced by ADVENT, held their third annual Mardi Gras parade in Philadelphia on February 20th, 2016. People in Manayunk and all over Philadelphia had a chance to see their favorite Mummers up close and personal during this colorful celebration. The String Band Association marched and played in this Mummers Philadelphia parade as onlookers listened and danced along to the music. 17 string bands paraded down Main Street in Manayunk. Now that this year's successful celebration has ended, everyone is looking forward to next year's parade.

This event is fantastic for those seeking things to do in Manayunk. The Mummers Mardi Gras event brings some warmth and light to the cold and dark winter months. The event lasted all day from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and the string bands played from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Some of the bands included the Trilby String Band, the Greater Overbrook String Band, the Durning String Band, the Polish American String Band, the Ferko String Band, the Hegeman String Band, the Duffy String Band, the Avalon String Band, and more.

Mummers Mardi Gras not only provides excitement for the people in Philadelphia but also generates exposure and raises money for one of Philadelphia's oldest traditions, the Mummers. For the past two years, this parade has taken place in Manayunk, where it has thrived ever since.
