Broomfield, CO -- (SBWire) -- 06/23/2016 --Mountain States Business Brokers (MSBB)—a business brokerage based in Fort Collins, Colorado for over 20 years—was recently merged with Ben Brickweg's Scout & Spur Group. The combination creates one of the largest independent business transition firms on the Front Range.

"For years I have had a vision of how a business brokerage firm could transform and professionalize our industry," says Ben Mahrle, MSBB's founder. "I was thrilled to join forces with Ben Brickweg because he shares the same vision. In addition to creating results as a business broker, Ben is a licensed attorney with a particular affinity for small business. The new brand will go a long way toward raising the bar for our profession here in Colorado and beyond."

"Ben Mahrle and MSBB have an outstanding reputation throughout Colorado and the Rockies," explains Brickweg. "Mahrle has built a vast network of contacts throughout the region, and his team of business brokers have literally decades of combined experience in putting deals together."

Though he plans to spend a little more time fishing and hunting in the mountains ("I hope this will be the year I get a moose permit in the lottery," he says), Mahrle holds part ownership of Scout & Spur, and will continue to provide exit planning and business brokerage services for Scout & Spur clients in Fort Collins and northern Colorado.

Mahrle believes that combining Scout & Spur's new, pro-active business model, the latest technology, and his network and experienced team will help the firm become Colorado's go-to business brokerage. He expects the new firm to keep growing beyond its headquarters in Broomfield, and outposts in Aspen, Fort Collins, Loveland, Steamboat Springs and Summit County.

"Scout & Spur has plans to add several more business transition guides and support staff," Brickweg adds. "We're looking for associates who share the same forward-looking client service vision we do. We're also open to merger and acquisition opportunities in markets we don't currently serve," he adds.

Brickweg continues, "I'm not even sure 'business brokers' is the right term to describe our team members. The word 'broker' is so transaction-oriented. What we offer at Scout & Spur is a long-term, consultative approach to building a company's value before the sale, then strategically exiting on your terms. We're 'business transition guides,' not just deal brokers. That's why our team includes folks with financial planning, legal and accounting experience. Of course, we can help business owners in distressed situations or with immediate personal reasons for selling, but the longer we have to help a company prepare for a transition, the more value we can add."
