Samsung to Launch the Sale of Gear 360 in US on August 19th for $349
Samsung is to launch the sale of its Gear 360 in the US on August 19th at the price of $349 following the sale of the ball-shaped gadget in Korea, Singapore, and New Zealand.
Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWire) -- 08/03/2016 --Samsung, an electronic giant, has officially announced that its first 360-degree camera namely Gear 360 will be put on sale in the United States. The Gear 360 will hit US retail shelves on August 19th at the price of $349, along with the new Galaxy Note 7 and the new version of the Gear VR. Prior to the upcoming sale in the US, the Gear 360 was only available in Korea, Singapore, and New Zealand.
Samsung's Gear 360 is a camera using two ultra-wide 195-degree lenses to capture overlapping images. A Samsung phone is necessary to make the best of the Gear 360. Right now it is only compatible with newer Samsung phones like Galaxy Note 7, Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge, though workarounds for other Android phones have already started to pop up. Images and videos captured will be processed with the phone's processor and then be stitched together into 360-degree photos and videos.
After shooting videos with the 360-degree camera, people can have a full 360x180-degree view to explore on a VR headset, transfer those videos to a touchscreen or a computer, and even sync videos from the Samsung phone to iPhone or iPad.
Compared to other 360-degree cameras in the newly-born 360-degree camera market, the Gear 360 is one of the best and certainly one of the easiest options although others may be rugged and can shoot 4K videos. Gear 360 shoots sub-4K video at a resolution of 3840 x 1920, but it is super simple to use and produces great-quality image. Some 360-degree cameras like GoPro and Nikon spent the first half of the year talking up their own spherical cameras, but neither of those products have hit the market.
In addition to Gear 360, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the new version of the Gear VR will be released as well. These three devices are a perfect combo. Firstly, people can capture some of the best times with Gear 360. Secondly, Samsung Galaxy Note 7 starts to process and stitch what is captured together into 360-degree photos or videos. Lastly, people can put on the new version of the Gear VR to enjoy those 360-degree photos or videos.
