NBC Announced to Broadcast 2016 Rio Olympics in 4K to a Few TV Services Owners
NBC will broadcast 2016 Rio Olympics in 4K to Comcast, DirecTV, Dish and EPB-Chattanooga services owners. Only 83 hours of 2016 Rio Olympics selects would be broadcasted, with a one-day delay between each event in Rio and its 4K broadcast in U.S.

There comes good news to certain 4K UHD TV and a 4K TV service owners: NBC will broadcast 2016 Olympics in 4K, though only 83 hours of selected items, from August 6 to August 21.

Only 83 hours of 2016 Rio Olympics selects covering swimming, track and field, judo, and basketball, plus the men's soccer final as well as video scenes shot around Rio are available in 4K. Also, these broadcasts are not live, but one day later than the event in Rio. However, ac NBC promised, people could at least watch one event from the previous day's competition in 4K each day.
The detailed information about these 4K broadcasts from these 4K services are as followed. Comcast customers could watch 2016 Rio Olympics in 4K broadcast with Comcast Xfinity UHD app on a Samsung or LG 4K UHD TV. DirecTV customers need to open the channel 106 to view the 4K broadcast, but get more options on 4K packages. They can enjoy the 4K broadcast with an Ultimate programming package or higher, the company's HR54 or newer Genie DVR, and a compatible 4K TV (or a 4K TV connected to a 4K Genie Mini). For Dish subscribers, the channel 146 will broadcast all 4K programming of 2016 Rio Olympics with a Hopper 3 or 4K Joey set-top box but the opening ceremonies. Lucky residents of Chattanooga with EPB Fiber Optics can watch the Olympics in 4K on channel 803 as part of its Fi TV Select package.
As NBC stated, the broadcast will also include Dolby Atmos, an immersive multi-channel sound technology found in newer receivers and speakers that should add some sonic oomph to viewers who have Atmos-capable gear. Lucky 4K customers would get a totally different Olympic Games experience at home, though it would be one day later than the live.
