Canon has officially announced that the EOS 5D Mark IV, the fourth generation of Canon’s full-frame DSLR camera, is designed with built-in Wi-Fi and able to shoot 4K video.

Shenzhen, Guangdong -- (SBWire) -- 08/28/2016 --Canon, a Japanese multinational corporation specialized in the manufacture of imaging and optical products, has officially announced its fourth iteration full-frame DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera the EOS 5D Mark IV. Canon EOS 5D was originally launched in 2005, and by now it has altogether four models. The latest one namely 5D Mark IV is the first Canon 5D to be equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity and a touchscreen, and it is also the first 5D with 4K video shooting ability. Costing as much as $3499, the 5D Mark IV will be available in early September.

Looking nearly identical to its predecessor 5D Mark III, the Mark IV receives substantial upgrades under the hood. Besides built-in Wi-Fi connection, a touchscreen, and 4K video capture, it possesses a higher-resolution sensor with Dual Pixel autofocus, an upgraded AF system, improved weather-sealing, built-in NFC and GPS.

The 5D Mark IV employs a new 30.4MP CMOS sensor and uses the Digic 6+ processor. The AF system is from the flagship 1D X Mark II and contains 61 AF points (41 of which are cross-type) with up to 24% expanded vertical coverage compared with the system in the Mark III. The center point is sensitive to -3EV in One Shot (AF-S) mode (in Live View the sensor is sensitive to -4EV with a fast lens).

4K video capture is a welcome addition to this camera and people can record in either 24 or 30p. Apart from shooting 4K (4096 x 2160) video at 24 or 30 frames per second, it can shoot 1080P video at up to 60 fps, and 720P video at 120 fps. As for video shooting ability, it is the first of Canon's full-frame DSLRs to be able to shoot slow motion full-HD footage, the first to offer the ability to shoot footage at 5x normal speed, and the first to be able to shoot HDR video.

Although the Mark IV has the same 3.2-inch size LCD screen as the Mark III, the resolution gets improved to 1.62 million dots. Another piece of good news is that the screen is now touch-sensitive, therefore people are able to tap to select focus point or to pinch-and-zoom when reviewing images.

The Canon 5D Mark IV is scheduled to ship in early September, and costs $3499 for body only. With the 24-70mm F4L IS USM lens or the 24-105mm F4L IS II USM lens added on, additional $900 or $1100 are required respectively.
