Penhall Technologies' analysts use the GSSI 400 MHz GPR antenna and Utility cart to detect plastic, concrete, and metal pipes, like gas, sewer, and sprinkler lines, or electrical conduits.

For metal objects such as pipes and cables, Penhall Technologies' analysts also use the SPX RD 7100 radio detection equipment (RD) to ensure maximum accuracy. Radio detection equipment consists of a receiver and transmitter that can sense passive signals and radio frequencies. The RD equipment can be used to locate utility lines like electricity, fiber optics, natural gas, telephones, and cable television. Additionally, RD technology can often locate storm drains and water main lines. Penhall Technologies' analysts use both RD and GPR technology for optimum accuracy in the field while locating private utilities.
