London, UK -- (SBWire) -- 09/16/2016 --Prime Minister Theresa May is set to further scrutinise student visas with the intention to reduce net migration. Looking to decrease the number of student visas that are granted to UK university applicants the Prime Minister claims that they have become for economic migrants, an easy route into Britain.

According to The Telegraph the Home Office and Department for Education, the student visa regime is going to be thoroughly examined in coming weeks to see where the criteria can be tightened. The Home Office has also reported that one in five foreign students overstay their visa, however each year the economy gains one billion pounds from the additional foreign students, a fact in which many like to leave out.
