Atlanta-based Physician Shares the History, Background, Effectiveness, and Future of LDN in New Book Set for December Release

Tyrone, GA -- (SBWire) -- 10/19/2016 --This December will see the release of an insightful new book entitled "Understanding Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Therapy: Reversing Autoimmune Illnesses and Other Chronic Diseases". Written by Georgia-based physician Yoon Hang "John" Kim MD, the book – as the title would suggest – focuses on Low Dose Naltrexone in terms of its history, its effectiveness for treating various illnesses, and the science behind it.

Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) therapy is popular and is growing in an ever-widening range of applications. Many "anti-aging" practices prescribe LDN to almost all their patients. Growing public awareness has helped spread the word more each and every day.

Dr. Kim's book is a result of his own efforts to develop a deeper understanding of LDN therapy. The book is written in a bit of a hybrid format – one that can be easily understood, while also providing references from the research literature.

"I was first introduced to LDN by a patient who recommended my researching the effect of LDN on autoimmune condition," shared Dr. Kim. "The results of my initial review of literature on LDN therapy indicated more potential benefit than potential harm. Subsequently, I made the decision to prescribe LDN. As a result of starting LDN therapy, the patient achieved remission from her autoimmune disease. In addition, LDN therapy may have provided protection from miscarriage, which she had suffered prior to LDN, and also may have helped the patient to get pregnant while taking LDN. When her autoimmune illness returned after delivery, we were able to use LDN therapy to successfully treat her autoimmune condition."

Today, pharmaceutical companies are beginning to show interest in combining LDN with conventional medications. The pharmaceutical companies' interest in LDN will hopefully result in more LDN research studies.

About Dr. Kim
Yoon Hang John Kim, M.D. graduated in the last class of Dr. Andrew Weil's two-year residential integrative medicine fellowship. After graduating from the fellowship, Dr. Kim worked as an integrative medicine consultant to San Francisco Bay Area institutions. After relocating to Georgia, he founded Georgia Integrative Medicine near Atlanta, Georgia. His efforts to create a community of healers is documented in his book, Tao of Healing: A Story of Georgia Integrative Medicine (available at Amazon.com). His contributions include authoring twenty articles on acupuncture and integrative medicine. He founded the Integrative Health Certificate Program at the University of West Georgia where he taught as an adjunct professor. Dr. Kim graduated from Beloit College where he benefited immensely from a liberal arts education while pursuing a degree in chemistry. During his studies at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Dr. Kim received the Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellowship. After graduating from medical school, he completed internship in the Family Medicine Residency Program.
