The Department for Transport Plan to Further Educate Drunk Drivers: Car Rental Company Comments
A new course has recently been introduced with the aim to educate drunk drivers of the serious dangers of drug driving and in turn improve overall road safety throughout the UK.
London, England -- (SBWire) -- 11/28/2016 --The course which The Department for Transport has introduced means that drunk drivers in England and Wales are now required to not only learn about the dangers of drunk driving but also learn about the dangers of driving while under the influence of drugs. This has come about after the realisation that a whopping fifth of convicted drug drivers have previously been banned for drunk driving.
Since the introduction of the new drug driving rules and the welcoming of easier testing systems approximately 7,000 drivers have been banned from driving completely while other after attending court have been offered the opportunity to attend these said rehabilitation courses in return for shorter bans and lesser fines.
A spokesperson from a leading car rental company was keen to comment saying, "We think that the new changes to these rehabilitation courses will most definitely be beneficial because offenders will be able to receive better education regarding drink and drug driving, while gaining a deeper understanding of the risks drink and drugs pose to themselves as well as other road users."
