Memphis Medical Society Announces New 2017 Board Chairman and Board Members

Memphis, TN -- (SBWire) -- 02/14/2017 --On Saturday, January 28, 2017, The Memphis Medical Society installed officers and board members to its 2017 Board of Directors. The dinner and installation took place at the Holiday Inn – University of Memphis, starting at 6:00 pm with a cocktail reception. Phillip R. Langsdon, M.D., FACS a facial plastic surgeon at The Langsdon Clinic replaced outgoing president Tommy J. Campbell, M.D. Dr. Langsdon will take the oath of office as the Society's 140th President.

Additional officers installed were president-elect – Autry J. Parker, M.D., pain management – Semmes-Murphey Clinic; vice-president – Andrew T. Watson, M.D., cardiovascular disease – Sutherland Cardiology Clinic; secretary - Danielle H. Hassel, M.D., physical medicine and rehabilitation – Memphis VA Medical Center; and treasurer – Sri I. Naidu, M.D., otolaryngology – Mid-South Ear, Nose & Throat.

Raymond R. Walker, M.D., family medicine – Saint Francis Inpatient Physicians is a new board member. Returning board members are David L. Cannon, M.D.; Frederick A. Fiedler, M.D.; James E. Klemis, M.D.; Jimmie Mancell, M.D.; Justin Monroe, M.D.; Christopher M. Pokabla, M.D. and Lisa S. Usdan, M.D.

Incoming president Phillip R. Langsdon, M.D., FACS received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences – College of Medicine, Little Rock in 1980. He did his residency in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Indiana University, Indianapolis. He completed his fellowship in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery, Birmingham. For over thirty years, Dr. Langsdon has been in private practice in Germantown, as well as a professor at UTHSC College of Medicine - Memphis. Currently, he is on the Board of Directors, as well as National Program Director for the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Langsdon has served numerous times as both a delegate and alternate delegate to the Tennessee Medical Association (TMA). He was the physician representative, State of Tennessee, Health Facilities Commission (CON) from 1995-2002 and the Office Surgery Safety Ad Hoc Policy Advisor (for CON, TMA, TN Dept. of Health) from 2000-2003. He is a 2015 graduate of the TMA Physician Leadership College. He is an Elder at Germantown Presbyterian Church. He is married to Carol Langsdon. They have four grown children.
