Family Divorce Solutions Members of San Fernando Valley Participated in CP Cal Annual Conference XII

Woodland Hills, CA -- (SBWire) -- 05/17/2017 --Family Divorce Solutions Collaborative Divorce attorney Alex Weinberger, CFP®. CDFA™, was on the Program Committee of the 12th Annual Statewide Conference of Collaborative Professionals Annual Statewide Conference of Collaborative Professionals which took place April 28 through the 30th.

The conference is held annually to help grow Collaborative practice in California and educate collaborative professionals, providing an exceptional way for advanced Collaborative education for professionals and to meet other Collaborative practitioners and network, an integral part of growing a Collaborative practice.

Family Divorce Solutions Collaborative practice members which include attorneys, mental health professionals and financial professionals, attend the conference each year. A few of the annual conference's workshops were: The House Matters in Divorce - Untangling the Legal, Financial and Emotional Strings; Trust & Estates Options; and Special Needs Children in Divorce. There were 21 workshops in all.

Jami Fosgate presented using Motivational Interviewing to enhance DCR (Consensual Dispute Resolution) practices.

Member Warren Sacks, CPA, CFF, attended the conference. "Divorce is hard on everyone involved, but the process can be easier than going to court for a vicious fight," Mr. Sacks said. "Collaborative divorces try to make sure that the family, even though it will be divided, can continue to function in a healthy manner. This is especially important in a divorce with children for parents' communication and co-parenting skills."

Doug Rosner lead the Trustee Estates workshop.

In addition to legal counsel, many times this divorce process also includes a family counselor who works with both clients or participants. The counselor's role is not to support one side over the other, but to help each side learn communication skills so they can find common ground.

"We can bring in a neutral financial professional as well. The financial professional helps explain all the family's assets and liabilities, as well as provide the clients with information regarding spousal and perhaps child support," Mr. Sacks said.

Both clients also have their own attorney to help them navigate the process.

"You won't be alone," Mr. Sacks said. "The process will also be done in a place that is not as intimidating as a courtroom."

The conference was April 28-30 at the Redondo Beach Crowne Plaza Hotel. For more information on the conference visit http://www.cpcal.org.
