Researchers from the Monell Chemical Senses Centre in Philadelphia have concluded that breastfeeding babies exposes them to the flavour of vegetables through the milk – making the strong flavours of vegetables less shocking when the time to eat them comes around, allowing their taste buds to enjoy the flavours instead of being scared.

The research required 97 pregnant women to drink beetroot, celery or carrot juice during pregnancy and then these to track the eating habits of their children as they grew.
