The Coalition for Equitable Representation in Government Launches New Website Focused on Political Engagement and Voter Registration

Sandy Spring, MD -- (SBWire) -- 05/09/2018 --CERG 2.0 PAC Launches new website to serve as a platform for communicating the organization's priorities of influencing policy makers and supporting the election of Montgomery County representatives who support the equitable representation of African Americans and other communities of color. Their new website offers detailed information on the work they do as well as how to sign up and begin working towards accomplishing changes in the community. They are seeking to build a coalition of support and membership while educating and empowering citizens to make significant, positive changes in Montgomery County, Maryland. "CERG 2.0 PAC is needed now more than ever," says Eric Bailey, CERG Board Chair, "in this current political climate, we need to make sure that everyone's voices are heard and that the issues and priorities of minority communities are not overlooked."

CERG 2.0 PAC seeks out members for support. This is done through joining the organization and making donations to further the organization's mission. Priorities include voter education and voter registration. Members in the community can find a wealth of information including how registering to vote effects voting, how it increases access to elected officials, and how it allows the people more influence in decisions affecting the community. The more people who register to vote, the more influence CERG 2.0 PAC will have during local and state elections and the greater chance for positive, lasting change for everyone in the county.

"People may be tempted to think that their voice doesn't matter, but as we can see from the changes happening in our country today, the power to vote is vital to bring about the change we want to happen. Register to vote. Witness the change," says Bailey.

CERG supports and promotes the empowerment and participation of African Americans and members of other underrepresented communities of color in the political process. They do this by advocating for five specific priorities, raising funds, and making contributions to support electing officials and candidates for state and local office in Montgomery County and Maryland. Their priority areas are: political action, economic development, education, criminal justice reform, and health disparities.
