Different dimensions on recent global trends in Management & I.T. were discussed in the Six Technical Sessions

More than 100 participants across the country participated Fourty research papers were also presented.

The three day National Conference on Recent Global Developments in Management & Information Technology : Prospects and Perspectives organized at SMS. The proceeding of the Conference were conducted in six technical sessions over the last three days in which galaxy of intellectuals from across the country participated. Speaking on the occasion Dr. V. S. R. Krishnaiya, Senior Director, NIC, New Delhi said that E-Commerce is a unique experiment of Information Technology. He reiterated that E-Commerce is beneficial for the common man as it will help change the way public administration performs its task.

In the first technical session on the inaugural day Prof. R. K. Singh, Sriram College of Commerce, New Delhi emphasised on the proper dessimination of information to the right person within right time for right purpose. Prof. Anand Prakash, University of Delhi stated that organizations that are investing in people and focus on their core value systems are more successful.

In the second technical session, Prof. P. R. Agrawal, Head of Department, Department of Humanities, MNNIT, Allahabad stressed on the prudent management of foreign debt and stated that external commercial borrowings have formed a considerable part of India's balance of payment in the recent past. Prof. Sudhir Sharan, Director, SMS, Lucknow also emphasized on the relevance of technology and its effective management as a key for economic growth and prosperity of the nation. In this session twenty research papers were also presented.

In the third technical session on day two Prof. G. C. Agrawal, Ex Director & Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Allahabad emphasised on spirituality and management by wisdom. In the same session Prof. B. P. Singh, Ex Head & Dean, Delhi School of Economics discussed on the Global Financial Crisis - A Catalyst for Change in Global Economic Paradigm. Prof. H. K. Singh also expressed his views and advocated that global crisis is infact a golden opportunity for India. In this session ten research papers were also presented. In the fourthtechnical session Mr. Anil Sud, V.P. Reliance Retail, New Delhi emphasised on the growing importance of category management and the need to develop and integrated system for its effective working.

In the fifth technical session Dr. V. S. R. Krishnaiya, Sr. Director, NIC, New Delhi discussed at length on the e-governance and digital firms. Speaking in the same session Mr. Himanshu Kumar, HR Head, TCS, Lucknow talked about the emerging markets and how the technology today has become an indispensible part of every ones life. Prof. Aurnob Mukhopadhyay, IIM, Lucknow expressed his views on social networking and cloud computing and the way it has made the delivery of services speedier and convenient.

In the sixth technical session, Mr. Rajeev Chadha, National Sales Manager, SAS India discussed on the issues & prospects of web marketing and its role in present day management practices.

Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS said that academic discussions in the Conference has been beneficial for both the academic as well as industrial world. Conference Summary Report was presented by Ms. Indrani Sengupta, Ms. Supriya Ashok and Mr. Ashok Kumar Tiwari. Certificates were also distributed to the participating candidates. Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Kamal Sheel Mishra, HOD, Computer Department, SMS. On this occasion Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Registrar, SMS participants and faculty members were also present.

SMS organised one-day workshop on "Human Values & Professional Ethics" Workshop organised in cooperation with Value Education Cell, UPTU, Lucknow

In the prestigious management institute, School of Management Sciences,Varanasi, one day workshop on "Human Values and Professional Ethics" was organised in cooperation with "Value Education Cell", UPTU, Lucknow. Addressing in the Inaugural Session, the Hon'ble Chief Guest, Shri Rajul Asthana, Ex. Global Head, Satyam Learning Center, said that, "professional education has indeed led to progress and enhanced performance, but without human values, such progress cannot be sustained for long. Shri Rajul Asthana further said that, today every individual focuses on gaining professional and technical education, overlooking the human values resulting in exploitation of their personal and professional life. The main aim of education is to fecilitate better life and to maintain better cooperation among the family, community and nature. This can be made possible only by embibing human values in professional education. Guest of Honor, Shri Kumar Samhbav, IIT, Kanpur, said that human values builds and enhances the spirit of excellence in individuals. In present time, it has become imperative to inculcate human values and professional ethics in the academic curriculam of the institutions.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS, Varanasi said that India has always been in the forefront among nations to emphasise on Human Values in education. SMS has since the very begining, realized the importance of Human Values in professional education and therefore, has established Centre for Spiritualism and Human Enrichment (C-SHE) within the premises of the Institute. The objective behind establishing the centre, is to initiate research on Human Values and to inculcate such values in students by making them understand its importance in their lives. Expressing his happiness over SMS being selected for conducting this workshop by Value Education Cell, UPTU, Lucknow, Prof. Jha said, such programmes will be frequently conducted in the future also. The workshop was conducted in two technical sessions. First Technical session was addressed by Shri Rajul Asthana and the second technical session by Shri Kumar Sambhav. Mr. Sandeep Singh, Reader, SMS and Workshop Coordinator, detailed the theme of the workshop and said that there has been two major paradigm shifts in the last century, i.e.

Shift from Science to Technology and from Technology to Business. Amidst the shift profitability has got preference and human values have gone into the oblivion. So the need is to restore human values in professional education. Earlier, programme began with the lamplighting and garlanding of statue of Goddess Saraswati. The Hon'ble Guests were felicitated with a memento by Dr. M.P. Singh, Executive Secretary, SMS and Prof. P. N. Jha, Director, SMS. In the end, Mr. Kamal Sheel Mishra, Convener of the Workshop, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The session was coordinated by Ms. Indrani Sengupta, Lecturer, SMS, Varanasi. On this occasion, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Registrar, SMS and all the faculty members were also present.
