The CCGNJ Reminds New Jersey Sports Gamblers That Help for a Gambling Disorder Is Just One Call Away

Hamilton, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/03/2018 -- With the NFL season underway and the NHL and NBA seasons ready to begin, the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey (CCGNJ) is preparing for the rise in sports gambling for residents across the state. With online gambling and even eSports gambling gaining popularity in Monmouth County as well as the rest of the state, the organization has begun preparing to help a larger number of problem gamblers as the fall sports seasons start.

It is evident that sports gambling is popular across the nation right now, and New Jersey is no exception. With online sports betting accessible in person and online through smartphones and other mobile devices, wide ranges of demographics are getting introduced to gambling for the first time.

"With the NFL, NHL, and NBA seasons beginning again, new audiences of sports fans are getting into the action and deciding to place wagers," explains Neva Pryor, Executive Director of the CCGNJ. "While gambling may not be inherently bad, those who don't know when to stop can unknowingly let their gambling habit get out of hand."

As a nonprofit organization that helps gamblers find help for their disordered behaviors, the CCGNJ wants everyone participating in sports and eSports gambling in the Meadowlands and across New Jersey to know that help is available to those who need it. From help meetings and workshops to guidance for gamblers or concerned family members on navigating the road to recovery, the CCGNJ welcomes anyone with a gambling problem to reach out for help.
