A New Crowdfunding Campaign Is Opened to Support Start-Up Hammock Business and Mayan Community in Yucatan, Mexico

The Original Hammock Store is socially responsible and goes above and beyond to support the Mayan community in Yucatan, Mexico.

Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/18/2015 -- A new crowdfunding campaign is started on March 16, 2015 to encourage people to support The Original Hammock Store that will sell hammocks and hammock chairs. These high quality, hand-woven hammocks are produced by women from the poor Mayan community in Yucatan, Mexico, who are trying to supplement their family income.

The Original Hammock Store's mission is to open the national and international market to weavers of hammocks, as this handicraft is their only source of income. The purpose of the foundation is to make their life more colorful, as every sold hammock supports the dreams and future of their children.

The goal of this crowdfunding campaign is to gather $35K for opening a very small retail shop for selling hammock's and hammock chairs in Hilton Head SC, buying the needed inventory and building up online store that will help spread the word about this business.

These hand-woven hammocks are made at home, and not in factories, where working conditions are worse. The Mayan women in Yucatan, who produce them, have the opportunity to take care of their children, while working. In addition, weavers are able to take a day off for some family, medical or personal reasons, without asking for permission or reporting to anyone.

When the hammocks are finished and ready for sale, they contact the supplier that is a Certified B Company and a member of Fair Trade Federation. He will deliver these high end inexpensive hammocks to the new retail shop that is to be opened in Hilton Head SC. Every sold hammock will help these poor people provide for their families' daily needs.
