St. Louis, MO -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/01/2016 -- Dog sports and trends are on the rise and the producers of Amazing Pet Expos are supporting active pets by giving pet-lovers the opportunity to see and participate in Lure Coursing at many of their shows across the country this year. In addition to expanding to two day expos in 2016, producers have also announced new elements such as a Contest Stage, designated areas featuring exotic birds, reptiles and amphibians as well as an enhanced Children's Area along with increased interaction for pets attending the event. Lure Chasing is the perfect sport for pets of any size, shape, age and ability.

The still relatively unknown sport of Lure Chasing, also known as Lure Coursing, is a fast-paced, fun chase sport. Dogs run after a "bunny" lure (usually a white plastic bag) that is attached to a line that is controlled by a machine and a lure operator. The machine runs the line at the speed determined by the lure operator (and the dogs) and the dogs chase the lure. While this is a sport for dogs with a high prey drive, it is also for any pet, even cats from time to time.

In addition to being open to any pets attending the event, the Lure Course will also feature pets from the Petfinder.com Mega Adoption Area as part of the Rescue Run, which is an opportunity for shelter pets to exercise and show off their skills for potential adopters at the event.
