Solo artist and architect Ann Leung believes there can “never be too much beautiful in the world” and is on a mission to create “insanely beautiful” spaces through the vibration and healing power of music. Her latest single “Jevolo” is a rich, evocative soundscape tempting fans for the upcoming album she is currently working on.
Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/02/2014 -- When you’re looking for music to soothe or uplift, Ann Leung has the mellow, emotive tunes to transport you to another place. She employs a classical finger-picking guitar style to create soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics that evoke her passions for connection, healing and a world of peace. Having performed with two other groups and released three solo singles to date, including her most recent, “Jevolo,” Ann is now working feverishly on her debut album and awaiting her track “Mia’s Song” to be featured on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5.
In addition to being a solo guitarist and vocalist, Ann is also a member of two bands: Diddly Squat, an all-female cover band of artists from the 50s through 80s, including a mix of rock ‘n’ roll, folk, blues and country, and G’day China, a duo with her partner Chris Hall. Diddly Squat was the product of a jam session among friends that provided a safe place for each member to grow, learn and write and perform songs, and Ann notes, “We called ourselves ‘Diddly Squat’ because we knew diddly squat. The personal development has been huge.”
In 2013, Diddly Squat were finalists in ABC’s Exhumed, a national competition for amateur bands. They were selected as one of six finalists out of 1400 bands and embarked on “the biggest joyride,” being featured in a five-part TV series that culminated in a live performance in Sydney in December 2013, where they performed in front of over 500 live audience members and more than a million TV viewers.
Ann has self-published and released several singles to date, including “Mia’s Song,” (August 2012) “Sky Meets Land” (2012) and her most recent, “Jevolo” in February 2014, which was co-written with world-renowned musician Michael Fix and features vocals by Nadia Sunde. She is currently completing recordings for a debut album to be released sometime in the near future.
Ann Leung will join a host of other international talent spanning a variety of genres when her track “Mia’s Song” is featured on WiFi PR Group’s upcoming compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5, set to be released at Coachella in April 2014. The digital mixtape will be handed out on 3,500 download cards to festival attendees, and 1,500 more copies will be made available on the Indie Anthems Bandcamp website.
