The furnished classrooms are all-wood classroom furniture to the new elementary school on Jaluit Atoll. This relationship began when ATD was requested to supply a solution to an uncommon problem.
The primary schools of the Marshall Islands don’t provide air conditioning, metal, or laminate. Plastic classroom furniture quickly degrades in the humid environment of the South Pacific. After they’d obtained low quality furniture from China that rapidly deteriorated, the Ministry of Education looked for another solution for furnishing their classrooms.
The solution ATD-American’s was to successfully partner with factories in Indiana, Georgia and California to manufacture and create a line of all-wood and custom-built school furniture suited for the unique demands and conditions of the South Pacific.
