Artist Sarah Nehamen, the creator of In Joy Artistry, said she looked into options that would be cheaper. But considering what she is designing for, the works have to stand up to time.

Each canvas is a poly-cotton weave specifically designed to resist humidity and shrinking. An acid-free coating eliminates the worry that comes with other prints that can rapidly age after a decade or so. The special coating also allows the ink to better penetrate and hold.

Ms. Nehamen makes sure to print with inks that resist fading and provide a high contrast.

"Children love bright colors. They want something that stands out and makes an impression. InJoy Art does that. A newborn may not recognize the shapes and animals in the prints, but the vibrant colors will attract the baby's attention," she said.
