The IICRC, Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, is an organization that sets standards for carpet cleaning and water damage restoration.Accreditation is very difficult to obtain, so this accolade is something Klibanskyand his team are excited to share.
"It is a very rigorous test similar to how other trade professionals achieve certain levels.The ASE program for auto mechanics is a close example.It has taken a few years to make it, and we have to maintain the certification with classes and training," said Klibansky.
The certification provides industry standards in cleaning and restoration as well as new and developing technologies within the industry.The standards for water damage, for example, require a great deal of training and understanding.
Since virtually anyone can start up a carpet cleaning business with a bit of capital and equipment, the water damage restoration side is much more challenging.This is why so many in the industry do not perform this service.
"Many people do not realize the dangers that can be associated with water damage.Molds, particularly black mold, can be potentially life threatening, and it does not take much for the mold to grow.Water damage restoration specialists have to be exceptionally thorough to keep this from happening.This is a major part of the IICRC accreditation," said Klibansky.
