Bank of England to Partner with New Cybersecurity Body

Manchester, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/26/2016 -- Unveiled in 2015,The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has been appointed to work with the Bank of England for thefirst task the body will oversee. The NCSC is designed to be a central hub for all UK cyber expertise. The NCSC's first head is Ciaran Martin, a GHCQ senior official. Based in London, the Centre will open fully for operations in October of this year.

The new centre is intended to provide a solution to criticisms with the previous system and operates in both a corporate and public capacity. With GHCQ being a secret service, information has not always been accessible where needed. The Bank will work with the Center to provide private sector advice as well as other government departments.

With the recent increase in cyber crimes and breaches of security such as that of telecoms giant, Talk Talk last year, the Center should provide a unique resource and hub for practical advice.

The government will play a vital and key role in the promotion of good practice and protecting the country from cyber attack however the liability of any attack lies solely with the owner of the data.

A spokesperson for the Safe Deposit Centre commented: "It is great to know that the Government is taking cyber security very seriously and the previous measures were less than adequate. It is refreshing to see this problem solved with the inception and completion of the new cyber centre".
