Be Well Collin County to Host a VIP Screening of a Powerful Documentary Taking a Hard Look at Addiction Treatment in the US

Dallas, TX -- (SBWIRE) -- 02/20/2017 -- Be Well Collin County and 2000 Roses Foundation welcome Producer, Greg Horvath from Huntington Beach CA for the Texas debut of his documentary, The Business of Recovery. The screening will be held at Moviehouse & Eatery in McKinney TX on Feb. 24th 2017 from 11:30am to 2:30pm and will be followed by a panel discussion.

The controversial film, delves into the deceitful and exploitative practices of the addiction treatment industry, and was nominated for a 2016 Voice Award. As drug and alcohol addictions skyrocket, The Business of Recovery examines the untold billions that are being made off of families in crisis. With little regulation or science, the addiction treatment industry has become a cash cow business that continues to grow while the addiction death rates continue to rise.

The screening has been made possible by a collaboration of Be Well Collin County – an organization created to provide a platform for healthcare, mental health, ancillary health and wellness related businesses to work together in the North Texas area and 2000 Roses Foundation - a grassroots Dallas community organization transforming the historic 10th Street Neighborhood in South Dallas into a multi-cultural, multi-generational community of purpose.

"Until people understand that there is a serious problem with the way addiction is being treated in our country, it is all but certain that nothing will ever change. One of the main subjects in the film was a Texas native. He passed away after the film wrapped and I served as a pallbearer at his funeral. I have become extremely close with his family and I promised that their son's death would not be in vain. Our goal is to encourage honest open discussions about addiction treatment and not only improve outcomes, but save lives" Greg Horvath, Producer, The Business of Recovery The screening will host a distinguished panel of participants for a no-holds-barred discussion of our current addiction treatment model. The panel will include, Michael Lohan of WarOnDrugs.com, Debbie Knauss, RN, LCDC of VIP Recovery, and Dr. JP Benevides of Paragon Pain and Rehabilitation, among other DFW addiction and mental health leaders.

The Business of Recovery has been featured in Forbes Magazine - "The critical assessment of addiction treatment is both timely and sobering." and the Huffington Post notes - "The message of this documentary is clear: It's time that the addiction/substance use disorder treatment system enter the 21st century and put patients, not profit, first."
