Bill Heeney for Philadelphia City Council

Bill Heeney Strives for Better Days Ahead in Philadelphia

Philadelphia, PA -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/24/2019 -- It's no secret that Philadelphia is not the golden standard for American cities that it could be. In a town filled with high taxes, rampant crime, and corruption, it's clear that there needs to be a significant change. That's why Republican Bill Heeney has announced his at-large candidacy for Philadelphia City Council, with the hope of providing Better Days Ahead for his hometown.

Heeney is a product of the Summerdale and Nicetown communities and has been giving back to his community all his life. He is a proud Irishman, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a regular volunteer at St. John's Hospice, where he helps to feed the homeless. No stranger to leadership, Heeney has also been president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 17 and was an active and aggressive member of Philadelphia's Tavern Owners Association, where he was instrumental in fighting the unpopular Philadelphia Liquor-By-The-Drink Tax.

With an increasing crime rate in the City of Brotherly Love, Bill Heeney believes that the city's DA should be doing more. Instead, Philadelphia offers leniency towards charges and the constant release of criminals back onto the streets. Heeney has already shown leadership as a candidate, filing a right-to-know complaint to Harrisburg against the current DA, demanding answers on cases that have been declined for prosecution.

Bill Heeney wants to help bolster the city's economy with tax cuts and support for local jobs and businesses. A local business owner himself, Heeney owns Instant Courier Service in Fishtown, so he knows how reliant on local business this city is. Other parts of his outline include support for union workers, equal pay regardless of gender, and the abolition of the wildly unpopular soda tax.

When election day comes November 5th, Bill Heeney aims to be the most dependable name on the ballot. His message to the city of Philadelphia is that of new opportunities, and that a vote for him is a vote for Better Days Ahead for everyone.
