The owner of the company Tracy Falbe decided to add the Bitcoin option because she’s always tried to make her web store shoppable with multiple currencies.
“Bitcoin is a form of money. So why not accept it?” Falbe reasoned.
She noticed back in May at the blog of her shopping cart and download provider SendOwl that Bitcoin had been added as an option.
“I looked over the information about including Bitcoin as a payment option, and it looked easy to do. I put it on my to-do list and finally got to it over the Fourth of July weekend,” Falbe said.
She had been following Bitcoin in the news for several months and was fascinated by the concept.
“Money is a psychological construct whether its sea shells, paper, silver, or digital information. Bitcoin has value and some people like to use it. Now I’m on board too,” Falbe said.
According to Bitcoin.org the cryptocurrency is “cash for the internet.” It has no central authority and functions as a peer-to-peer exchange of value. Without any institutions acting as middlemen, the transaction fees associated with Bitcoin are lower. The system is based on open source protocols and software that are public.
