Preston, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 01/31/2017 -- Having worked on a variety of high profile projects, Lustalux, the premier provider of window films and graphics were delighted to be commissioned to work on the famous and iconic SkyWalk glass floor at Blackpool Tower. Work on the Tower began initially in 2012 and has since continued to present day, providing high quality safety glass film to keep the see-through floor in pristine condition.

Each year, up to four times a year, the walk of faith glass panels are treated with specialist safety window film with a scratch resistant, anti-vandal coating, to protect the large laminated glass sheets from everyday wear and tear caused by the countless feet that scurry across them.

Blackpool boasts around 3 million tourists every year who visit to experience its unique tourist attractions. The SkyWalk feature, which is not for the faint hearted, weighs half a tonne and was reopened as the Tower Eye in 2011 after receiving a million pound investment. The Blackpool Tower Eye contains a large glass viewing area with the finest panoramic views of the North West.

Blackpool Tower was first opened to the public on 14 May 1894 as a tourist attraction and it was inspired by the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It stands high at 518 feet (158 metres) tall and is the 120th tallest freestanding tower in the world. The tower is a Grade I listed building.

Since the prestigious commission, Lustalux have been working closely with Blackpool Tower and one question seems to pique people's curiosity, wanting to know how the team get up to the top to install the film. Unfortunately the answer is simple - we have to use the public lift like everyone else does!
