Leeds, England -- (SBWIRE) -- 09/23/2016 -- Britain is now facing a huge invasion of super-sizes slugs and experts have recently warned that the average garden could soon, or in some cases already be teeming with 20,000 molluscs. Because of lack of hard frost and a mild winter slugs failed to go into hibernation during the 2015-2016 winter period and have been reproducing since at an incredibly speedy rate.

Dissimilar to snails slugs are able to stay active providing that temperatures are above 5C and the warmer the weather, the quicker they reproduce – laying between 20 and 100 eggs at a time. This is presenting tough times for gardeners, with slugs feeding on and damaging they grows. Traditional gardeners have in turn been urged to grow plants in which slugs do not like such as foxglove, geranium, agapanthus and fuchsia.
