Scottsdale, AZ -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/01/2017 -- That's according to author Bruce Cameron, who joined Jason Hartman as a guest on a recent episode of the Creating Wealth Show to talk about his bestselling book A DOG'S PURPOSE.

What's interesting, Cameron noted, is that a dog can hear quite well. However, it cannot understand what you're saying, yet it can sense emotion.

"A dog does know that you're upset or angry or sad," he said.

Dogs have a short life and people know that a very sad day will come in 10 or 12 years, yet a dog spends almost every day happy, unlike humans. Paying attention to your dog is rewarding, Cameron said.

"You are missing out on a lot of life if you don't get down on your hands and knees and play with your dog," he said.

Dogs can teach us many life lessons, and they provide unconditional love.

"We're not going to get that from any person," Cameron said. A dog doesn't care if you lose your job or if you overeat, only that you're happy, he added.

Cameron said he was surprised by the response to his book and feels it's the topic – not that he's a great writer. A Dog's Purpose has received over 2300 Amazon reviews and topped the New York Times Bestseller List.
