Cajutel Inc. Announces Crowdfunding Campaign to Bring Solar Powered Broadband Internet to West Africa

All-new high speed network would make internet affordable, reliable, and available to many for the first time

Wilmington, DE -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/03/2016 -- Cajutel Inc. has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Fundable.com to raise funds and awareness for a new network of solar powered high speed internet in West Africa.

Cajutel will begin its project in Guinea-Bissau, where 98 percent of the population has never accessed the web from a mobile device. Internet in West Africa is expensive, slow, and unreliable. There are only 2 mobile operators offering voice services and minimal internet offerings. In Guinea-Bissau, people don't have EDGE (2.5G), much less 3G or 4G.

Cajutel is harnessing the power of the internet to fuel the potential of the internet in Guinea-Bissau. Partnerships with installers and retailers are already in place, as are all plans and licenses. Once funding is in place, Cajutel will be ready to bring 1 gigabit capacity into the country from neighboring countries, build and install equipment and towers, and acquire users.

Cajutel CEO Andres Fink has 20+ years of experience in telecommunications, including a tenure with Cisco and the launch of companies such as BebbiCell AG, a mobile virtual network operator initiative with combined GSM/VoIP services. After consulting on a project in West Africa in 2003, he saw the need for his expertise in this part of the world.

David Vine, Cajutel CTO, has spend the past two decades living in various West African countries. He's built TV and radio stations, as well as MMDS relays, and he has an extensive knowledge in building low-cost networks and working with African authorities.

"Everyone in Guinea-Bissau is on board: we have requests from banks, government offices, schools, trading companies, and individuals. Everybody is welcoming us," said the Cajutel team.

Cajutel is excited to partner with people everywhere to bring this unique project to fruition. "The internet has changed our world, it's time to help it change someone else's," said the team.

A recently released video presentation explains more about the project.
