Ben Lomond, CA -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/31/2014 -- While she’s appeared in films and television, actress Michelle Rabe put down her scripts and picked up a pen for the dramatic transition into her new life as an author.
Rabe has entered the literary scene with ‘Cast in Blood’, her debut vampire novel that has garnered critical acclaim for its intricate characters and a narrative unlike anything written before.
To the outside world, Morgan Blackstone is an eccentric businesswoman. But, within her chest beats the undead heart of a 21st century vampire. Behind the doors of her nightclub, The Dracul, Morgan rules with an iron fist in a velvet glove.
After a long night of wrangling unruly supernatural customers, she is looking forward to some peace… but unbeknownst to her, there are other vampires who are conspiring against her. Just before dawn, in the deserted parking lot, she comes face-to-face with two old adversaries, one of which she had last seen being sealed in a tomb, 400 years before.
Overpowered by her attackers, Morgan wakes inside the lab of an unscrupulous doctor. Held against her will, subjected to experiments, she soon realizes that something has begun to burn within her veins…
Something that she knows will kill her.
“As a fan of vampire fiction myself, I’ve noticed that the genre seems to be in a rut where you can only find 2-3 different types of stories. ‘Cast in Blood’ is different,” says Rabe.
Continuing, “the story is focused on characters and how they interact with one another as well as the world around them. I’m always intrigued by what if scenarios and that’s how ‘Cast in Blood’ came about.”
Early reviews for the book have been extremely positive.
“There are so many vampire books out there that it becomes repetitive. However this author has created a plot that I have not read before. I have not read a vampire story where the main character is being tested in a lab. I cannot wait to see what other talented plots the author has to write,” says one reader, reviewing the book on Amazon.
Patricia A. Lundeen adds, “It started out great and then got better. Rabe is a new author and her character development is really great for a newbie. Loved the story line. Wasn't thrilled with the end...but that being said, it leaves a lot of room for more. I'd definitely read more!”
