CCGNJ Helps Problem Gamblers Find Gamblers Anonymous Meetings

Hamilton, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/26/2018 -- The Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey (CCGNJ), a non-profit organization serving disordered gamblers across the state of New Jersey, offers problem gamblers even more support through Gamblers Anonymous Meetings. Those suffering from a gambling and alcohol use disorder (also known as "alcohol addiction") in Camden, NJ, can turn to the CCGNJ for the help and support they need to begin their recovery.

According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, there are upwards of six million people across the nation that are affected by a gambling disorder. In the state of New Jersey, however, the rate of disordered gambling is much higher — almost four times that of the rest of the country. The CCGNJ's efforts are designed to spread awareness of this public health issue, de-stigmatize gambling disorders, and connect disordered gamblers and their loved ones with resources for support, treatment and hope, such as Gamblers Anonymous meetings.

Close friends and family of those struggling with a gambling disorder are encouraged and welcome to attend any Gamblers Anonymous meeting with their loved one, as this helps form an enhanced understanding of the disorder and strong support system for everyone involved.

Executive Director of the CCGNJ, Neva Pryor says, "We have found that when loved ones join their friend or family member at Gamblers Anonymous meetings, their recovery rate nearly doubles. It's really a win-win situation for everyone involved."

Any person in the Vineland, NJ, area with a gambling or alcohol use disorder (also known as "alcohol addition") can visit the CCGNJ website to locate Gamblers Anonymous meetings closest to them. The CCGNJ is also available 24 hours a day, seven days a week through their free and confidential helpline, 1-800-GAMBLER, which is available by phone call or text. Representatives are always standing by to lend an ear and point problem gamblers in the right direction when they need support, treatment, and hope.
