CCGNJ Weighs in on MGM Resorts Gaming Partnership with the New York Jets

Hamilton, NJ -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/13/2018 -- October 31st, 2018 marks a very significant day in the history of sports betting in Atlantic City, as MGM Resorts International joins the New York Jets as their official gaming partner. The multi-year deal is a first of its kind and the most comprehensive and integrated partnership within the National Football League. While the deal with the Jets will not immediately benefit MGM Resorts' bottom line, the casino hopes to see more and more app downloads of its app over time.

MGM is the second resort in Atlantic City to unlock sports betting within its app. The deal between MGM and the Jets, which is more than just a casino sponsorship, includes a game coined "I Called It." The game will live exclusively within the Jets app and gives fans the opportunity to answer questions about what will happen in future Jets games. Although MetLife Stadium, the Jets' home turf, is in New Jersey where sports betting is legal, "I Called It" players are not allowed to wager; they can merely win prizes instead.

The deal between MGM and the Jets additionally includes in-stadium signage, access to the Jets' production studio (at the team's facility), various hospitality opportunities for Jet's season ticket holders, and much more.

Neva Pryor, the Executive Director of the CCGNJ, chimes in on the newfound partnership stating, "As both MGM and the Jets franchise look to increase their customer base and provide fans with a one-of-a-kind gaming experience, it could come with a cost. Myself, along with the rest of the CCGNJ, think that this new access to sports betting, even without any real wagers, may lead to an increase in the number of people with a sports gambling disorder in the state of New Jersey."
