First attempts to introduce cigars to Slovenian consumers came in 1990s when importer Cyan started to expand its offer. However, cigars in Slovenia was still considered a product for Slovenian elite and special events, or as practical gift for different celebrations.

Competitive Landscape

All cigars available in Slovenia are imported and there are many brands available. However, only two importers dominate sales. The leader is Scandinavian Tobacco Group doo which held 45% value share in 2013 because of many of its own brands, as well as some exclusive distribution rights for other brands. The company is also the main innovator and most active in terms of expansion of its offer across Slovenian on-trade outlets but is strong also in the off-trade channel. Therefore it managed to have the biggest increase in volume share in 2013.
