Citizen and SendGrid Announce Partnership to Help Provide Consent for Marketing Lists Under the GDPR

“Citizen’s platform secures customer consent for direct marketing - a key component under the GDPR. By integrating Citizen, companies can stay compliant and remove the risk of needing to delete their consumer data.” Elliot Goldwater, Director of Business Development at SendGrid.

Whitechapel, London -- (SBWIRE) -- 04/11/2018 -- From May 25th this year businesses serving EU nationals (including the UK) require consent from these consumers to store their data for marketing. Failure to demonstrate consent could result in fines up to 4% of global annual turnover or 20 million; whichever is highest.

Citizen and SendGrid (both Techstars alumni) are working together to help businesses secure consent in preparation for the GDPR. Citizen have developed a SaaS solution to simplify consent management across marketing lists.

GDPR as an opportunity

The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduces laws which will force companies to change their approaches to data privacy, including new consumer rights.

Companies will need explicit, provable consent from both new and existing customers for direct marketing. Marketing lists without consumer consent may become illegal following the 25th of May.

Citizen allows businesses to leverage the GDPR reforms as an opportunity engage customers and build trust while increasing marketing ROI. Consumers can manage their data directly, ensuring that companies are provided with up-to-date information from networked, verified users. This enables companies to access deeper, validated data directly from customers.

Citizen is available from the SendGrid marketplace, where you can bond your SendGrid account and begin importing existing data within minutes.
