Cocobolo Software Releases New Blog on How to Receive Notifications when Computers Go Offline or Come Online

Silver Spring, MD -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/08/2014 -- Cocobolo Software, the parenting company of patch management software BatchPatch, is pleased to announce they have released a new blog informing users on how to receive notifications when their computers go offline or come online.

According to the blog, which can be read in its entirety at http://batchpatch.com/how-to-receive-notifications-when-computers-go-offline-or-come-online, users can receive an audio alert or email when yet-to-be-updated computers come online. With the alerts, users can get their computers updated before other users remove them from the network again.

BatchPatch notifications can be set up in five easy steps:

1. Configuration of email settings
a. Fill out appropriate fields for organization
b. Verify configuration through test email

2. Configuration of default alert settings
a. After host has been added to grid, modify settings for that particular host
b. Make sure configuration of default settings is complete for BatchPatch installation

3. Configuration of alert settings for hosts in the grid
a. Configure hosts to send email notifications when they come online
b. Configure others to have audio alerts when they go offline

4 Configuration of email recipients for hosts in a grid
a. This step is optional
b. Use only if you want to configure specific rows within grid to email specific administrators

5. Ping the hosts in BatchPatch
a. Hosts will only be able to send email notifications or audible alerts when they are being actively pinged in BatchPatch
b. When a host’s ping changes from “TimedOut” to “Reply from” users will receive either email notification or audio alert depending on system settings.
