Concerned that some families are struggling with basic needs such as food, she said dental care would be the last thing on people's mind. Yet, neglected dental care can actually make a person weaker and sick due to bacteria traveling through the mouth into the blood stream.
"It is not a matter of losing one's teeth. One's immune system gets weaker and opens the door of major diseases." said Dr. Darj.
As the owner of Affordable Dental Associates, she and her team will be providing free dental treatments to help the under-served in the community during February Dental Health month.
The Free Emergency Dental Care Clinics will be held in each of her 3 practice locations as follows:
Feb. 19th, 2016 from 8am-4pm at 10760 North Loop Dr Ste 3A, Socorro, TX 79927
Feb. 26th, 2016 from 8am-4pm at 211 Texas Ave, El Paso, TX 79901
Feb 27th, 2016 from 8am-3pm at 1861 Robert Wynn St Ste D, El Paso, TX 79936
Free dental services, including fillings, dental cleanings, extractions, toothache treatments, and more, will be provided to as many people as can be seen, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Dr. Darj said, "I am concerned that the number of people needing dental care who yet can't afford it has increased. My team and I have treated hundreds of El Pasoans at our free dental day event. We are excited to be holding our 5th event."
Dr. Darj considers the cost of the giveaway in staff time and supplies as a "give-back" to the community. "I have been practicing here for many years. This is my home and I like to see the residents here get the help they need." said Dr Darj.
